The Role

During its 8-year existence, iwell has focused on optimization of energy flows behind-the-meter, with the combination of its BESS hardware and proprietary EMS software. Orchestrating energy production and consumption, controlling PV and EV, with the BESS serving as a buffer for matching profiles and smoothing out peaks. When possible, the revenue potential of energy markets (wholesale and balancing) is unlocked on a case-by-case basis.

iwell has built an extensive client portfolio, diverse in use case, battery sizing and location. With each site having his own unique set of constraints and possibilities we get the most out of every situation through local optimization and energy trading. A next step being our own iwell VPP: aggregating and valorizing flexibility on the entire pool of iwell batteries.

Combining these revenue models on a client level, with market dynamics and local constraints changing this balance on a daily basis, is the puzzle we love. Achieving cost reductions, revenue growth or sustainability goals. In the end we want to provide the client with a solution that aims for the lowest carbon footprint and highest market results.

As a Business Developer you are developing and validating investable business cases for clients and translating complex energy solutions into clear, actionable proposals. You combine technical insight with commercial strategy to create innovative solutions for customers. You work closely with the sales-teams in all countries and although you dont have a commercial responsibility, you excel in explaining all of the complexity in plain language to clients.

As a member of the Business Development & Marketing department you are helping to define, create and market the winning proposition to scale iwell all over Europe.

To lead these efforts, we are looking for an experienced Business Developer, with in-depth knowledge of, and hands-on international experience with, local energy optimization and energy trading.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supporting the sales teams in all countries with customer specific business cases that win deals.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, including sales, legal and technical experts, to ensure the signing of new deals.
  • Create and validate new solid business cases using analytical models to support growth strategies of potential customers.
  • Using market developments and emerging trends to fuel product development from a market and customer perspective.

Requirements
  • Master degree in a relevant field such as Business, Engineering, or Sustainability.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience in business development within the sustainable energy sector.
  • Extensive knowledge on the different dimensions (IT, Financial, legal) of European energy markets and energy flexibility.
  • Experience in creating and implementing successful business cases and commercial strategies.
  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills with the ability to translate data into actionable insights.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a proactive and result-oriented approach.
